ZAP to Roll Out 2009 Electric City Car with Hatchback Design at Sacramento International
Auto Show, November 6-9
SACRAMENTO, California (November 5, 2008) - Electric car pioneer ZAP (OTC BB: ZAAP) has redesigned its Xebra 4-door city-speed electric car for 2009 as a hatchback to increase the functionality and refine the manufacturing with steel-body construction.
The 2009 ZAP Xebra Sedan will be on display November 6 through 9 at the 2009 Sacramento International Auto Show. Local ZAP Dealer Cost Less Auto of Rancho Cordova, California is organizing the display, which will include a test ride area for ZAP electric scooters.
The new 2009 Xebra Hatchback is a 5-door that sports a nifty hatchback with folding rear seats, more than doubling the size of the rear cargo area with 34 cubic feet of space. At the same time there is more of head room and leg room for front and rear passengers.
The styling of the 2009 Xebra Hatchback has also been upgraded to improve the aesthetics inside and out. The steel body is sleeker, stronger and more durable as opposed to the original fiberglass sedan. Inside, the interior aesthetics have been improved.
"The Xebra hatchback is a huge leap for ZAP in quality and design," said ZAP dealer Sean Rarey of Grants Pass Electric Vehicles in Oregon. "The ergonomics are much friendlier and more comfortable. I really like the added features, like the ammeter and the remote electric door locks."
The ammeter is an additional dial that helps monitor the energy efficiency of an electric vehicle. It will tell the driver how many amps of electricity are being used at any given time, helping them to use just the right amount of electricity for different driving situations.
Xebra has been an electric transportation sensation. Say what you want about this quirky little filly, but owners have sent in rave reviews, "Cute as a bug;" "The Model T of

the electric car"-- even "chic magnet." Rather than designing an expensive electric car that would replace a gasoline car, ZAP took a different approach with the Xebra, with an economical footprint and the ability to be 100 percent powered by electricity, almost like a cell phone. ZAP designed the Xebra primarily for families, businesses or fleets who operate multiple cars and want to save money by driving an electric vehicle on a regular basis.
